The link between PI3K and GSK3beta

There is at least two ways that activation of PI3K can lead to GSK3beta inhibition. One is over protein kinase B (PKB, also known as Akt) (Cross et al. 1995). The other one is over integrin linked kinase (ILK) which has been shown to operate in NGF dependent pathway where it phosphorilates PKB (and thus indirectly inhibits GSK3beta) but itís also able to directly phosphorilate GSK3beta in vitro (Mills et al. 2003).
